Atelier Core Program

The atelier method reflects the classical academic tradition of the dedicated study of human form as observed from life. The core program consists of four, inter-dependent, courses in cast drawing, figure study, feature anatomy, and still life that gradually orient the student to novel processes that enhance observation and form sensibility. These courses are for all levels of experience with an emphasis on drawing in pencil and charcoal.

The atelier program allows for ‘rolling’ admission, at any level of progression, with each session providing a specific focus to help the student acquire a coherent working process that fosters skill development and an aesthetic that appreciates beauty through the truthful depiction of nature.

As a supplement to the program, students of the Atelier Core Program are strongly encouraged to attend Monday monitored open studios as an avenue of dedicated practice for drawing the figure from life.

Mini workshops are also available for the student to explore and refine core drawing concepts in a more expansive range of media.
